Baroque Improvisation
A new course on yes improvising in Baroque style like J.S. Bach! This means playing chords and melody together with 2 and sometimes 3 voices (or more) on the fly. I won’t called this counterpoint as there are too many rules to follow but the key concepts and things to know and learn are:
-common chord progressions like minor i-iv-V-i
-voice leading for smooth bass lines and chord movements
-closed and open triads in their inversions on the neck
-melodic patterns
-modulation (changing keys) and various ways to do this such as cycle of fourths
-analysis of baroque tunes such as those by JS Bach
