No Scales, No Modes
ByAs much as possible I try to teach you the simplest way possible to learn how to solo by avoiding the common confusion with scales and modes. I think I’m in good company because:
Here’s a great Robert Conti quote (applies to all guitarists): “Nearly every aspiring jazz guitarist has experienced a DVD or an instructor who presents some abstract concept with the expectation that you, at some point in the future will be able to somehow make music out of essentially useless data.”
Jimmy Bruno also teaches a simple method of soloing as well and avoids the common obsession with theory and analysis.
